We will be doing a beautiful 13.9-mile hike with about 3,000 feet of elevation gain. Friday Departure: We are meeting at 4:00 PM at the Orange Commuter Lot. Please be prompt so we can pack the cars and hit the road! We will be driving to our starting point at 94 S Mountain Pass in Garrison, NY. Saturday: We will hike southbound on the Appalachian Trail (AT), cross the Bear Mountain Bridge, and walk right through the Bear Mountain Trailside Zoo! After checking out the animals, we will summit Bear Mountain where we will stop for lunch. Afterward, we will make our way to the West Mountain Shelter where we will set up camp for the night and have dinner. Sunday Return: We will pack up early and hike the remaining 5 miles to our vehicles at the Silvermine Lake Parking Area. We expect to be back to the Orange Commuter Lot in the early afternoon. The Scouts will call on the way home to give a more accurate ETA for pickup.

Scouting For Food

We will be collecting food donations from homes that have signed up between 8 a.m. and noon. We will be delivering to the New Haven Food Pantry or Orange Food Bank. It is for a great cause and will count towards service hours. We ask that each Scout, whether they are able to pick up or not, pass out flyers to their neighborhood mailboxes.
